Took a walk at Chinatown just because I wanted to see the Mid Autumn decorations. I haven't seen our Chinatown this pretty in a while!
Ended the day at Selfish Gene Cáfe to try their new Matcha Latte. It is definitely one of the better cáfes I've been to. Quiet and spacious. I also like the choice of reading materials they provide for us to browse. I need to come back to try their food instead of just coffee :)
"Gene has always been rather selfish when it comes to food. It is not that he will never share his food, but rather he will not serve anyone food that he would not eat himself."
Henry Congressional
"henry congressional / ‘henri kan’gresh(a)nl / adjective 1 of or pertaining to the meeting of common folks for the appreciation of fine coffee, tea and craft beer"
I like this place. Tucked in the quiet neighborhood of Henry Park, it is small and minimalistic. The owners are a bunch of friendly people too.
We went there on a Sunday noon and it wasn't packed at all, just how I like it. The patrons were probably residents from the viccinity.
I had latte and the rosemary chicken & watercress sandwich, which I both enjoyed. The chicken is tender and the pairing of chicken and watercress is quite refreshing.
Would love to visit this place more before it closes :)
Egg is leaving for the UK in a few days. Take care my slightly awkward gig partner :(
What do you want to do before you die?
“Preparing for death is one of the most empowering things you can do. Thinking about death clarifies your life.” - Candy Chang
And yes, I do think of death quite a lot.
How would I die? Where? Who with?
What would I have accomplished?
How would people react to my death?
Woody Allen
Love these two movie opening scenes. Probably made more dramatic, but still very beautifully done. I want to visit these places. As well as Café des 2 Moulins, one of the filming locations for Amélie. Hopefully one day...
Goodbye August
Celebrated JX & JY's birthdays! We gave them a little surprise (yes, we do love to give each other heart attacks like this), went to the zoo, and then a simple dinner at a hawker centre. Video diary below :)
In other news, went to check out Carpenter & Cook with Dewi, after reading about all the hype.
I like it there. Quaint, but also felt a little like a vintage museum. Would love it if not for the crowd. I really enjoyed their famous Passionfruit Meringue Tart. The tart base is sturdy, it doesn't crumble when you cut through it. I wished there was more passionfruit curd though. Will go back there very soon to try out other desserts!

Tea time for two, minus my tea and D's raisin scone
I also ate lots of pho bo this week. Yummm. There can never be too much pho, I'm serious.
